On Thursday, October 21, Stitely and Karstetter CPA’s sponsored our second annual charity golf event. Held at Top Golf in Ashburn, Virginia – the event successfully raised nearly $3,000 for Paws of Honor, a local charity that provides free veterinary care and products to retired military and law enforcement K-9’s across America that have served our country locally and globally.

Mingling, golfing and perfect fall weather

In addition to the entire S&K and Total Accounting Care staff who were in attendance, special guests included four retired “Paws of Honor” K9/military dogs, as well as eight local veterans.  Attendees enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast buffet and drinks – while mingling, golfing and enjoying the perfect fall weather together.

Four special V.I.P.’s

Welcoming four retired service dogs to the event was a great honor – and Maggie, Bubba, Joker and Harriet each had some very interesting backstories to share:

  • Maggie retired from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in 2017 after many years as a bomb-sniffing dog. She worked at several airports around the country, including Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
  • Bubba spent seven years working for the U.S. Navy in Bahrain as working military dog. He is now retired and living with his handlers in Waldorf, Maryland.
  • Joker worked for the U.S. Secret Service for more than six years, protecting our leaders and leaders of other countries. He has traveled throughout the world and visited every state in the US!
  • Harriet worked as an explosives detection dog for the U.S. government for seven years, and won back-to-back awards at the National USPCA Detection Trials.

Nearly $3000 raised

Through ticket sales and a vibrant silent auction, S&K was proud to raise nearly $3000 for this extraordinary local non-profit – and having these four dogs on-hand truly added to the spirit of the day.

In the end, the event was a great success and a good time was had by all!
